About Qualeasha Wood

Qualeasha Wood is a textile artist whose work contemplates realities around Black female embodiment that do and might exist. Her work is a nod to familial relationships to textiles and queer craft. Wood's tufted and woven tapestry pieces mesh traditional craft and contemporary technological materials through the thoughtful use of iconography and portraiture. Her work explores how Black Femme figures are simultaneously invaluable to culture and held at the margins. Wood uses intuitive combinations of analog and cybernetic compositional processes to explore Black American Femme ontology.
