Jason Andrew Turner
In March 2023 Paradigm Gallery reached out to us to see if we'd be interested in collaborating with Jason Andrew Turner on a series of limited edition rugs for his upcoming exhition at the gallery. It felt like the perfect project due to the exhibition and work centering around home.
It was cnc tufted using ten colors of 100% New Zealand wool. and finished using a simple twill tape bound edge.
Turner's art is all about exploring the complex and mysterious workings of the human mind. Through a combination of carefully chosen colors and repetitive marks, he delves into themes of mental health, cause and effect, psychic connections, and the importance of play. Turner works mainly with water-based materials and almost always incorporate sumi ink into my pieces. This unique blend of abstract art mixes the mechanical with the spiritual, leaving the viewer feeling both grounded and uplifted.
Turner's work aims to tackle the big questions about our existence and interconnectedness, drawing on the contrasting perspectives of memory and experience. By meditating on the unconscious, he's able to shine a light on the concrete and the ethereal aspects of life. Each piece is an invitation to step into a world of introspection and contemplation, inviting viewers to join me on a journey of self-discovery.
